Course Information
The aim of the qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to manage an infant/child in an emergency and with suspected injuries and/or illnesses safely and promptly.
This qualification is aimed at those currently in employment, or those looking to enter employment in an Early years setting. Purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain knowledge and practical competencies required to deal with a range of emergency Paediatric First Aid situations. The EPFA often supports those that have undertaken a level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child with external bleeding
- Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child who is suffering from shock
- Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child suffering from anaphylaxis
