Course Information

 

The aim of the qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to manage an infant/child in an emergency and with suspected injuries and/or illnesses safely and promptly.


The AoFAQ Level 2 award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is an accredited qualification and provides first aid training specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. This course is ideal for anyone who works with or comes into contact with infants and children in their working or voluntary roles. This course is also ideal for parents and families with young children.


Designed around the needs of child carers, our paediatric first aid courses place emphasis on dealing with sick or injured children and babies.


  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider​
  • Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child who has a foreign body airway obstruction
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant or child with external bleeding
  • Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child who is suffering from shock
  • Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child suffering from anaphylaxis
